Nestled in a gentle valley between the highest peak of the Osterzgebirge mountains, the Kahleberg (905 m), and the striking Geisingberg (824 m), Altenberg is an attraction for many people seeking relaxation and recreation, both in summer and winter.

Our youth hostel is located about 1 km from Altenberg train station, surrounded by extensive forests and numerous sports facilities.

About us

Tino has been managing director of the hostel since summer 2019 and took over the family business from his father together with his wife Susan. They have two children, both enjoy mountain biking and go cross-country skiing in winter. Besides his work, Tino volunteers as a mountain bike trainer in the sports club.

“The interesting thing about our profession is that you get to know many new people through the different school classes, families, groups and athletes. We have even accompanied some of these athletes on their career path up to a world championship or Olympic Games. And the exchange of experiences and tours with the individual travellers, hikers and cyclists also gives us great pleasure”.
